Overtown Manor is a magnificent Grade II listed property nestled in the little hamlet of Overtown just outside Swindon and superbly situated for the M4. The Manor is part of a working farm surrounded by open countryside set on the edge of the Marlborough Downs.

It is the family home of Nancy and Percy Lawson and both the farm and Manor have been in Nancy’s family for over 100 years. Percy is a Land Agent and Nancy is a trained chef who has worked in the catering industry for over 25 years. Cooking for Directors lunches in London and Swindon, conference catering at Sheepdrove Organic Farm, private dinners, drinks parties and most recently giving cookery demonstrations.

There is so much to do and see from Overtown. The Ridgeway goes along to edge of the farm and you can run, walk or cycle to Avebury and not see another house or car for eight miles. We are well located for day trips to the Cotswolds, Bath, Oxford and London (Swindon train station is 4 miles away, trains leave every 15 minutes to London Paddington and takes 1 hour).

The House

The Manor is a family home, refurbished to make it a wonderfully comfortable and homely place to stay whilst maintaining its original charm.

The garden was completely redesigned by Rachael White 15 years ago to make it easy to maintain but still a traditional English garden.

When available fruit and vegetables can be picked for guests staying at Overtown.

In the summer there is plenty of space to get out and if the weather is kind have lunch.

Overtown Manor is still part of a working arable and beef farm (Overtown Farm) which Nancy’s brother Douglas White and father John White run together. They have a herd of Red Ruby Devon cattle producing delicious beef to sell direct to customers, restaurants and local butchers. For more information please see their website Barbury beef.
